Black spots appeared on yemen's head

Hey guys, I'm posting this just as a precaution I've just taken a look at my Yemen cham and some black mole/freckle like spots have appeared on his head, they weren't there yesterday. I've read other threads where they say crickets biting could be a cause but I dont feed crickets as I prefer locust, also his ceramic has a guard so can't be a burn. I've also read that it could poss be bruising but I'm just not sure if that's the case and if it is how he could've done it, he has his own viv so co-hab isn't an issue.

If anyone has come across similar I'd appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks in advance

I am not sure what that is! I would like to add though that just because you have a guard over the light, does not mean he cannot get burned. They do not have to touch the light itself to get burned. They can get thermal burns, kinda compared to us getting a sunburn. I however, do not think that is what you have here. It almost looks like a line on his nose in the one spot. Is there anything in the cage that he could have rubbed his nose on that would cause this pattern?

Yeah I know they could still get burned even with a guard but the guard hardly gets warm and there's a good space between it and the bulb. Not sure about thermal burns though, it doesnt really look like a burn to me but Tbf I dont know what it is unless it is just a mark from rubbing something in his viv

It almost looks like something dripped on him. Try double checking above the cage or maybe around the basking light in case it melted something

That's exactly what my girlfriend just said, I'm going to check in the morning and make sure nothing is where it could melt. Thank you for the reply

Try washing it off with a soft cloth. If it's something that melted or dripped you want it removed in case it's toxic.

Cheers Joe, my girlfriend did as you said with a cotton bud today and it came off without leaving anything, so wasn't a burn. Could well have been something melted onto his head but I've checked the warm area of the viv and even around the uv (even though that bulb doesn't get so warm) and nothing is in an area which could melt.

Hopefully just a isolated mystery incident which won't reaccur! Better to be safe than sorry though. Thanks for the replies!
