Black spot on panther chameleon, help!

My male panther chameleon is about 9 months old. Today I noticed he had a black spot on his stomach close to the size of a pencil eraser. I looked at a few other somewhat similar posts, from what I understand is that it could be a bruise or an infection. Is that somewhat accurate? Also, how can I tell which it is and if I should be worried?

Thanks!

I would keep a very close eye on it and if it starts to get bigger I'd take him to the vets. Normally black spots are a burn or bruise.

Black spots/marks on the skin can be a variety of things. If there is an injury to the skin, there will be a black mark. Sometimes these marks that are caused by some sort of injury will disappear in a few hours. Sometimes an old injury only shows itself when the animal sheds. Sometimes black marks are caused by a disease process. Keep an eye on it and if it grows, take him to the vet.

Thank you both so much! I will keep an eye on it. Hopefully it is just a little bruise that will heal quickly!

So now I am not sure how to feel. Part of me is more worried because there is a new spot today. The other part of me feel a small amount of relief as the older spot seems a bit smaller. When I looked up close his skin did not seem dry and it did not show any signs of being punctured or scratched. I got some better photos. Please and thank you for any thoughts.
