Black crickets

I've seen a couple of threads refering to 'Black crickets'. Is this a reference to Gryllus crickets like the North American field cricket, or is it something else? I have North American field crickets everywhere around my area this time of year. They seem to get alot 'meatier' than Acheta. I'm considering trying culture them, but I'm not sure if they will breed year round in captivity, as they have a pause in reproduction in the winter.

I was at the Reptile Expo in NY this Sunday and I bought some Dubia for my Cham to try for the first time. Well long and behold there was a black cricket hanging out with them. It wasn’t full grown, but 1/2" and it was not scared of me at all. I took the tweezers to move it to the cricket bin and it just climbed on the tweezers like he knew what I was going to do. Smart lil bastard and I also heard they're feisty.

When I was in LLL the other day they said their crickets are black. The crickets at American Cricket Ranch are black.

trust me they DO LAST longer
have them for almost 2 months or so whenever i get 250 of them. they eat alot of all the good stuff you put, pretty clean and dont smell much
but if you dont put food they will eat themselves without a trace of evidence
they dont jump much but their size is intimidating

I think American Cricket Ranch might have them... Go to their website and check them out. They are located here in San Diego but do ship. Last I heard they were getting them.

i usually get them at the monthly SBCK meetings
maybe you can ask him where he gets his crix??? he gets alot
