Bio active tank

Hello all, I am working on a bio active tank for my male veiled chameleon, and I was wondering if any of y’all know what kinds of dead leaves I can put over the soil in the tank? I have lots of apple and maple leaves, would those work? Thank you

Not sure if apple will work. I’ve only heard of people using oak, magnolia, maple and palm. Personally, I just leave all the leaves my ficus trees drop in the enclosure.
