Big problem!

I have a chameleon and a rabbit. I am getting married in july when my babe comes home from korea and gets stationed somewhere in the united states. Do Army bases allow reptiles let alone a rabbit? I would HATE to have to give them both away. :( HELP!!!

Yeah. You will be fine. They don't have to know if you have the animals anyway. If it were something bigger, like a cat or dog you would have to register it on base.
Plus, when you and your soon to be husband get married you will be able to get a place off post using the BAH he will get.
I just got out of the military.

As far as taking a reptile on a plane, I have no idea. When you get married, and your soon to be husband gets assigned to a new duty station he will be given Permissive TDY to go back home and get all of his stuff and drive it to where he gets stationed. So most likely you won't be taking a plane.
Just something to think about.

So how do I sneak it on a plane and all that when we arrive? Do they even allow reptiles on planes?

I doubt you can sneak it on the plane... and I don't think they let you fly them as carry on. I think they have to go cargo. I'm not positive though.

What kind of box? How big? He's just two months old right now. Well be leaving in july so that's a good 6 months down the road.

I can tell you yes, you can have one on base. No problem there. The only things they dont allow is pitbulls.

Second, give your chameleon to a buddy but ship the cage. TMO will ship all that. When u gets your roots in, have your buddy ship your chameleon to you.

Does this help?

You'll probably need to provide a temporary cage for your friend who ships the chameleon unless you can find someone with an empty cage. That's something to think about.

If there are reptile stores near you, you might check to see if they will do the actual "housing" of your chameleon for a fee, then let your friend pick him up on "shipping day".

Taking your cham on a road trip yourself would is way better than how most of them get shipped in boxes trust me just because it says fragile or whatever on it shippers still flip and mistreat the boxes. as for your pet on base they probably wont allow it but you can bring it on post no one goes around checking your house for pets, depends on your housing rules for post. A cham will be easy to have no ones going to complain about that. Im an mp on Ft lewis and we constantly get complaints for dogs and what not so you will be good. I seriously suggest getting housing off post near by the place you will be stationed because living on post they will take all your BAH when living off post you can find a decent apartment and manage to pocket some money.

I've done two dozen 3-4 hour drives with my guys, back and forth across the state. Granted, it's not a cross-country drive but they do really well in a dark box. They just go to sleep and wake up somewhere new. Daedalus by now just sides the headrest when I go anywhere - for a chubby chameleon the guy has an amazing ability to get out of fully-tapped travel boxes lol So I just let him ride on a headrest. But a box would be safer, definitely, or a small travel cage.

I saw a post recently about a guy who tried boxing his chameleon for long road trips...his cham wasn't having it, so the guy decided to let him out and turns out he found his comfort zone on the rear view mirror! Pretty funny...but yeah, depends on your comfort level with the cham as well, which I believe was also a veiled.

HAHAHAHAHA! Im sorry, but this is hilarious. I can imagine driving down the road and seeing a cham on a headrest chilling.
Or you getting pulled over, and cop seeing him!!!!
"sorry officer, i have to get out of the car to give you my license, seeing you might upset my chameleon."

to the OP, dependin gon your cage size, you can just leave him in the cage.
What i did when I had my hoe shipped to my work. was just put him on the plants, put the plants in a box, and put it in the car.
for Kink, i just left him in his baby cage. but now that his baby cage is inhabitied. id just box him in a shoe box with a fake viine and towel.

Your only issue will be if he gets stationed in Hawaii. Hawai'i won't allow the cham and the rabbit will have to be quarantined for 90 days to make sure he doesn't have rabies (Hawai'i has no known cases of rabies). Besides that, your best bet is to ask the base housing people about the rules. I know some bases in Hawai'i refused to house rabbits or guinea pigs or any rodents - or even jackson's (I lived on Tripler for a year and had to sneak my jackson's onto base). Just make sure because if they have to come in for repairs, someone might report your animals and then you get them removed and a small little black mark appears on the housing record, so next time you try to get base housing, you might get refused. I've seen it happen and I played with fire while living on Tripler and luckily survived with all pets OK. Also, make sure you don't go over the limit. Some places allow one pet, others have no limit.
