i want to get a chameleon, been researching,i want to buy a 24x24x48 high so i wont have to buy another cage when my chameleon gets big, will it be ok to have a baby veiled or panther in a cage this big ? i really rather not have to upgrade size later ? but can a small one go in a large cage or should i get the 18x18x36 ??? thanks

that size is just perfect for adults.
you can also put a baby in the adult cage.
just teach him to cup feed so you know hes eating.

you can put a baby/juvi cham in a large cage. I always think about how they survive in the wild, in the biggest cage of all! They find the food. My cham has always been in adult cage. He used to hunt the crickets down from top to bottom. It was never a problem.

i started all my chams in adult size cages. i cup feed all mine and i just put the cup high up near their basking spot so that they can see it when they're basking.

Tom from Kilgour's kept my new baby in an adult cage his full first 4 months. And I think he is much more active and independent because of it. He ate the very first day I put him into his new home, and even handfed within 5 minutes of putting him into the cage the first night :)

So I'm starting to think it may be a myth about not keeping them in a big cage, the only reason I could understand is being able to find them! They're so small and sneaky :)

:)

yes I've had some of my babies in adult cages and they grew perfectly fine just make sure they know where their food is! :D

I started off my panther in a large cage. Considering he is really active, I think he enjoys his room to roam. Luckily for me, the first day he was hand feeding. Still hates cup feeding though.

Well, there is the trade off of not being able to find the little guys... Until they're more colored I guess. In an adult cage you could be searching for a while just to find a baby or toddler

That's good for them, they probably feel safer, but bad for us :)

You can make the larger ones smaller with dividers though. Just block off parts of the cage.
