Betadine or Reptaid?

I can get both pretty easy. I have been using peroxide to keep a small bacterial infection at bay in my chameleons mouth. It hasn't been going away though. I looked at some betas one and was told it was good for infections, but all the bottles said for the surface of skin only. A vet a the seattle reptile expo told me that she's never use peroxide, but said to use betadine but I'm not 100% sure it's safe or better. I've heard that Reptaid is all natural and gets rid of pretty much anything. I don't know what to get. Can you help me?

If i can offer to you another avenue..You can buy providone iodine at any Rx store. Its great stuff all around.

Im sure some that i have treated have swallowed a tad bit. I would keep it at a minimum by A. Diluting it with bottled water B. When rinsing the mouth or flushing a wound in the mouth. 1. Point the tip of the nose towards the ground. Be sure not to flood causing fluid to go into nostrils. A dropper or syringe are good for this. 2. Soak a cloth or material you will use to manually scrub wound.

When working with infection for this to work. You will need to remove as much infection as you possibly can. Now dont take what im about to say next to far out of context. It is good to clean it till you see a tad bit of blood. I dont mean to make the wound even larger (even though this has to be done from time to time and it is best to have a vet do this) just clean lightly and thoroughly.

Well uhm I just take a q-tip and dab the infection usually.... I don't see why I must be cleaned... It should just go away with something to kill it

You have to attack the source to cure. :)
To treat with your method. the animal needs to be on an antibiotic. Your only treating the surface infection.
