6 month old male Cham, Cavie, and I want to start introducing him to other food. He gets calcium without D3 every feeding, calcium with D3 twice a month, and a multivitamin wice a month. I feed him every morning (12-15 crickets) around 9 am. I just want to get him into other things so he doesnt get bored. I've tried, but he doesnt seem interested. Any suggestions?

:)
Thanks!!

Try some superworms, silkworms or hornworms. Put them on the screen where he can see them crawl or put them on a branch out in front of him.
You can try fruits and veggies in a shallow bowl or place them on a branch. Make sure the fruits are cut into small slivers.

If you cut thin wedges of apple or pear or melon and he will gape or as he's drinking water you can stick the end of the wedge between his teeth. Once he figures out that its edible you can impale it on a twig of a branch in his cage and he should eat it if he's interested.

Have you tried regular blue bottle flies? If he doesn't eat them there must be something wrong in his silly little head.......:)
Don't feed them very often of course (crickets and locusts are usually the best staples)
You seem to be using your d3 and multivitamin powders twice as much as most people on this forum - but you may have different concentrations in your brands. I would recommend posting the brand names you use and someone will tell you what the best dusting schedule will be........
And welcome to the forum :)

I use the same schedule for my Cham's. I use the Exo-Terra supplements. Plain calcium, Ca with D3 and multivits. Would you say thats too much?

I'm afraid I only know about my own supplements - that's why I said 'someone' will tell you......I never read the label for Exo-Terra..
