ok this is my first post im new here. ok I got my baby veiled Saturday. been reading a lot of stuff. just tryin to figure out the best way to feed her. let the crickets free or put in a bowl? any and all tips welcomes.

thanks once again.

either way works! with my baby veiled i had the crickets in a small bowl right next to the foliage for him to get them. once he was all settled in i started letting the crickets run free range in the viv for him to hunt them down. its basically up to you! if the vivarium is huge compared to the baby i would suggest using a bowl to begin with so that it makes it easier for her to find the food :)

oh and welcome to the forum!!! any questions you have, always ask! everyone here is awesome and they all have a ton of knowledge to share :)

thanks. yea im just worried that she wont eat. i just left a few roam around and a couple in a bowl.

dont stress too much, when she's ready she'll eat. its really common for a baby chameleon to take one to two weeks to get settled into a new home and they may not eat until they are all settled in. my baby veiled didnt eat until the 3rd day home, but some take longer to get comfortable with the new enviroment. what kind of set up do you have for her to drink from?
also, this is a great caresheet that i was given when i got my baby veiled, has alot of info on what your baby needs!! https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/chameleonsinmyhouse/395-veiled-chameleon-care-sheet.html

i just mist her cage 3 times a day. Thursdays im goin to get me a little dripper. or is there anything better? yea she is a little thing. my room mate got one too. and they born on the same day. just is just tiny. but thanks less stress she is my first veiled/"child" lol

When we got Picasso we let him hunt for his food and then after a while we started putting them in a jar and let him learn how to eat that way and he did really well......I guess it is just up to the owner to which way they want to feed.

thanks David! you taught me well Sensai Grasshopper ;) i was so blown away that you didnt get here first i almost blanked what to say! hahaha :)

You know.....we have a saying on here about pics I think.....someone remind me....first to it gets the rep points :D

the little dripper is great, thats what i have as well. makes sure that your cham has opportunitys to drink all day, even when youre not home! i put a bowl underneath the foliage to catch the water that drips off the leaves and then empty the bowl really regularly so that the humidity doesnt get too high, it should be at bout 50 percent :)
how old are the new babies? thats neat that you both got one from the same clutch!

Pics or it didn't happen. Got it! points on the way.....I'm starting to think Max first said 'Pics or it never happened'
Both are acceptable :D
You have to wait a little while for the points though....it won't let me again so soon....

no worries thanks David! whos Max? not sure i know who that is, but if he said it first, you are quite right Max!
and on a side note, i completely understand how easy it is to spend half the day on here, so much to learn and see!! LOL.
