Best Thermometer Probe?

Hey Guys, I am in the planning stages for a dream enclosure for my panther Chameleon. I would like a very high quality thermometer with at least 2 probes, 3 would be ideal, but I dont know if anybody makes that. I dotn need a thermostat, just probes that display the temperature on an easy to read digital screen. I would like it to be all digital and humidity is a plus but not needed. i have found a bunch of cheep ones on the internet but I need something that is going to last and endorsed by you all. Let me know what my options are, thanks so much!

I have heard temperature guns are good but I would like something I could mount at various locations in the cage. I may be wrong tho and the gun may be the way to go. Just trying to see what everyone has to say.

Well I don't think the probes get the right temp where you want it atleast. I like to measure my chams actual temp and do it often. You just aim the laser and it gives instant temp. I've compared to many thermometer and dif temp guns its the most accurate and easiest IMO. Goodluck!:)

please search my recent posts for issues regarding temp guns. i know they are convenient and alot of people like them but be aware that temp guns, especially cheap ones with a wide distance to spot ratio have a number of issues in regard to reptile temp measurements. one of them being, they only measure the temp of solid surface objects , they do not measure air temp. depending on the guns use and its d/s ratio, it likely includes things in the measurement that you dont want measured. it measure every solid surface object within a circle, then averages them out. the size of the circle is dependent upon the d/s ratio of the gun and the distance used . imo, temp guns have their uses, but for cage temp monitoring, i recommend the $20 zilla hygro/therm as the biggest and safest bang for the buck. there is one pictured in my cf albums. jmo

Exactly what Xantho said... I have stressed that fact before in a few other threads...
I use the ones xantho uses, and also the "sunleaves" temp probe from joshs frogs... they are quality probes that wont kill your pocket @ $25 i think.

I use both laser and a Taylor model 1523 thermometer with a very long wired probe.
I have the probe dead center at about 14'' from the top of the cages.

For some reason, the reviews at Amazon for the Taylor are poor, I dont know why, because this is the most accurate commercial digital thermometer I have ever used.
I know this because I also have a expensive thermometer with I send in for calibration and certificate every year, the Taylor is always either dead on, or only off by one degree!!
