Best soil that has worked for you?

So I realize one of the biggest problems with me keeping my plants alive is under watering due to the soil just not soaking up water, causing the water to really just sit on top of the soil having it take forever to soak in.

I currently use this soil, but I’d like to switch for future plants.

So,
What soil do you all use? What’s the best (and hopefully cheapest😅) soil that’s safe for a chameleon enclosure and has decent drainage?

I’ve been using the same product and some of my potted plants have been having the same problem. It works great in my bioactive though, but I mix a lot of different things into it, like sand , orchid bark, charcoal, sphagnum moss and coco coir. I keep meaning to check out some plant vlogs and experiment with making my own potting mix. You may want to do the same. It would probably be a bit less expensive than buying an organic potting soil and you’ll know exactly what’s in it.

I have always used fox farm happy frog soil. But I also use the clay balls in the bottom of my pots as well. About an inch so their is better drainage.
