Best place to aim infrared thermo.

I bought a new infrared thermo and was wondering what spot everyone uses to test the asking spot temp and the AT. It seems that both are perfect but I would like to know how everyone else tests.

I use a few readings around the basking site just to make sure there are no real hot spots, and same for the rest of the enclosure. Gives a better overall temperature reading IMO. Also, just to be on the safe side, take a glass of ice water and check to be sure that you have a reading about 32 degrees. If not, you are not getting accurate temps.

You know honestly, I've never thought to try that before... good idea! (y) To test my mini gun I have, I was just setting a mini fridge to a pre-set temperature, and checking the walls of the mini fridge after it stops cooling everything down inside. I've also, out of curiosity, checked my oven after I pre-heated it before to see if the temp on my oven was accurate to the temperatures inside the stove. It was. :) Testing ice water would of probably been a shorter route though :ROFLMAO::LOL:
