best live plants

hi, i was just browsing through the safe plants list on FLchams and wanted some opinions of the best plants for cham cages?

Some of the most common ones are pothos and ficus, but are they the best?

I think pothos is great.

It is hard to kill, lol, it grows fast, its cheap, and holds lots of drinking water. You can place the vines anywhere you like, to use as roads.

I am STILL looking for a ficus, so I cant comment on them.

I like hibiscus as well, but it only does good if you have a 6500k light on it.

Shefflera holds drinking water very well, and I think its good for small, or young chameleons, but I dont like the way it looks:rolleyes: and older/larger chameleons dont seem to get much use out of it. I kill them very quickly too, they seem to be over watered easily. ;/

The only thing is that the Schefflera is sooo inexpensive at places near me. I can't find any good pothos that are large enough and don't cost an arm and a leg.

well... im useing.. 3 plants 1 umbrella plant.. that isnt realy getting bigger..
but i aint useing a extra light then im useing some big
eupiruneum :p chammy seems to like it and isnt harmfull
and water stays nice on it
and some purple flowers.. my girlfriend thought
they where some nice colours.. they called orchide seem not
to be harmfull either.. and its some colouraiton
and 2 realy small bromelia's on the ground for coulours to ;)

I have one of those umbrella plants in Angels cage and a hibicus in Ringos cage. Both are doing really well with lots of new growth even though they don't get much light. I haven't been able to find a 6500 light yet hoping to soon though. I'm not much for fake plants, prefer live. After I get my cage built I plan on having at least 3-4 plants in both cages and eliminate the fake plants.

I am using a Schefflera Arboricola, Ficus Benjamina, and Golden Pothos all crammed into 16x16x30. Pip loves the Schefflera, likes the pothos, and uses the ficus as his pooping tree.

I've never seen him do it but there is always poop under the Ficus and nowhere else.

The Schefflera is the tallest and he uses it bask despite the lovely reptivines nearby I set up for that purpose.

The Pothos isn't fully grow in yet but he loved the huge pothos in his old enclosure. (Which is still sitting there empty with a pothos).

Pip is a senegal and literally can walk leaf to leaf he is so light and agile. I'm not really sure how any of these would work with a bigger cham but am not worrying about it as a senegal is about the biggest cham I want.

I use Pothos which as said are really hard to kill and are very easy to grow and all my larger chameleons love them. they use them as roads between branches all the time. the Hibiscus is another one I use its colorful in bloom and my females love them. I also use shafferia but as said they are only good for smaller chameleons as they tend not to hold much weight.
# 1 favorite is Pothos though. Easiest to maintain and best for all sizes of chameleons :D:D:D:D

The only thing is that the Schefflera is sooo inexpensive at places near me. I can't find any good pothos that are large enough and don't cost an arm and a leg.

walmart\ has\ it\ in\ hanging\ baskets\ $6\ and\ if\ you\ give\ it\ alot\ of\ water\ it\ will\ grow\ so\ fast\ you\ wont\ believe\ it!!

mine\ doubles\ in\ length\ every\2weeks...

pothos all the way! ive had mine for 3 months and it has EXPLODED! it seriously has roots growing through the mesh of my cage, its amazing, and my cham absolutely loves the vines! i got it at lowes for about $8...walmart and kmart have them too. or find someone who has one and ask for a vine, and start a whole new plant :)
