Bent back/ Kink in Back (picture)

SKITTLES

Hello everyone, the picture attached is my female pure bred blue nosy be. In the picture she is about 6 months old. When I received her from amazing blue reptiles I noticed that she had a kink/ bend in her back. I have done a little research and have decided that this is a birth defect. She is in great health to this day and is now 9 months old. My question to everyone is will this kink/bend have any health complications if I breed her? Also will my offspring have more of a chance having this birth defect?

Howdy,

Sorry I won't be of much help here . I would only be speculating... I could easily believe it if someone told me that there would not be a genetic carryover and that there would not be any problem to breed her either .

hey maybe i can chime in on this one , iv bred veileds befor and i had a few in one clutch that would have this kink in there backs but soon as they got around the 1.5 month age they would grow out of it and you would never now they born that way , so who knows maybe she didnt grow out of it like others do so im going with a birth defect or she fell at a young age , but the birth defect is what im going with , shes a beaut of a girl though glad you have her to make her life that much more better

Why risk it? I see no good reason why you would chance breeding an animal with a possibly inferior genetic make-up or possible healed injury that could be made painful by breeding.

This bending in the spine can also be caused by incorrect incubation and may not be a birth defect as such at all.
