basking (what right and what wrong)

I have a mini combo deep dome fixture by zoo med can I put a 150watt crystal clear light and a 60watt plant light in the dual fixture my temperature get about 96 with both on .but whe I turn the plant light off it get about 85. And that a bout 5" from the top what should do.
Planing to get a vaild adout 2 months old

96 fahrenheit seems really hot for a basking spot, especially if the veiled is so young. Usually the basking spot should be from 80-86 for babies that young to prevent burns. If you have a UVB fixture I find that helps my plants so I don't think you really need a plant light because it's making your basking spot way too hot.

When measuring the temperature, temp the top of the top basking branch. This is best done with a infrared temp gun. That branch can be at the high end, but the height of the chams body will be a higher temperature.

Be sure to have 1-3 more branches an inch or 2 below each other so he can choose.
