Basking Lamp Blew Out

So not even a month ago I got a ZooMed 75w repti basking spot lamp and this morning when I woke up it wasn't on. I took the bulb out and it makes the clingy sound, which I believe is the filament. But anyways I only have the box for it, no papers; is there any manufactures warranty that can replace it and also I won't be able to get another for the time being, can I use a regular light bulb or a household bulb until I can get the real thing?

Thanks in advance!

I doubt there'll be any warranty on a bulb thats been used for that long. The branded bulbs in the reptile shops are a scam. I use house bulbs - they do the exact same thing and are much cheaper. Just make sure you check the temps when changing the bulb to a different type.

If another bulb goes in short time then I would start to look at your lamp fixture being faulty.

Try calling ZooMed. I bought a spot lamp for my turles that was marketed as splash proof. First day, a little water got up there and the bulb was out. I called and they mailed me a new bulb and a coupon for a free bulb. Can't hurt to try?

dont bother with the "real thing" they are expensive and a ordinary white housebulb does the same thing and provides adequate uva. Start with a 40 watt, measure your temp. If it is not where you want it, then adjust the wattage up or down.

I started using Phillips PAR20 50w Flood lamps from Home Depot. Lowes sells them too. Got the idea from Kevin from aquazamp (summoner12), they work great and seem to last longer than the "name brands".
