bamboo stakes

I believe that Jim at chamco uses them. He might be able to help you out for some advice...Hopefully he will look into this post...BTW, I have tried using them, and they worked fine for me, they are tough to cut though.

Ah man I use them plenty in my enclosure. Ill take some pics for you tomorrow as my lights are all off at the moment. I stuck about 6 or so vertically in the pots of the plants, and then used a few to lay across the enclosure frame horizontally. They work really good and are pretty cheap, plus you can cut them to size if you buy the long ones.

I never found them difficult to cut though. I have an ordinary hacksaw and it cuts through them very easily.

This is the whole 175 gal reptarium. Can see the vertical bamboo going to the top in some spots. Some just go half way, harder to see. They are all pushed into the plant pots. 10 vertical sticks total.

Kam008,

Nice set up you have there. How do you secure the horizontal pieces? including the big branch in there. Did you screw them in to the net on both end?

The horizontal bamboo is attached using velcro and hotglue. It holds reallly good. The large branch's are just that artificial twisty branch stuff from the pet store. I just wrap it around the frame a few times then stretch it across. They are 6' pieces.

Here are some...

This is some thing I did today with some bamboo stakes. I took a drill to the ends of them and vwah-lah... a nice hole for some wax covered thread.

How did you secure the hanging pot to the repatirum? I recently purchased a 260 gallon reptarium and i was wondering if you have any good ideas or tips on setting up the cage?
Thanks a lot

Hey Ryan. Don't your chams see each other when your cages go around the corner? My one girl is on constant watch for anything that even looks like a cham and turns dark and nasty. In fact, there is about 2" at the bottom of her cage on one side where the plastic doesn't cover and she will go down there and look into the other cage through those 2" and get all pissy and my other cham.

A word of caution

Saw my name dropped. We use a lot of bamboo. Whatever wood is used for climbing or perches, my recommendation is to use natural unfinished and unpainted wood. Regular bamboo is fine. Bamboo stakes can sometimes be bought dyed green. I would avoid these, as they 1) do not wick away moisture well enough with a sitting chameleon after a shower, and can lead to fungal infections, and 2) I don't trust many dyes, etc. I also no longer recommend plastic perches for the same reason. Fungal infections will occur to the inside of the feet. If so, switch to natural wood, and the infections usually clear with Tinactin or a similar product.

Cham w/ bamboo

Well here is my cham upside down checking the bamboo that appeared out of no where. This photo is too funny. I just think to myself that he saying,

"What the hell is this? Look at this! Who put this here?"

You know in the pictures it looks that way but the angle is just right and they can't see each other. One more cage next to the 24x24x48 would ruin the entire thing.

Took some careful planning but it works.

hahaha my veiled Jake and Fred would do this. They are right next to each other and the curtain had dipped at the very top a bit and you could hear them both scratching at the cage for a day trying to show off at each other..... kinda weird they turned so aggressive now... before at the old apt. (only a month ago) they could see each other on the back couple inches of the curtain and they would just sit there on the bottom of the cage looking at one another confused... no aggression. It didn't happen all day or all the time... but I did notice them there sitting.. it was funny looking.

Ryan, I wanted to warn you about your Melleri seeing the other chams. I took Jake out of his cage and put him near huge Henry and Henry got scared of a veiled cham half his size! LOL I am sure if I let Jake go walking around Henry's range he'd be mad and kick his butt.... but at first site he was shrunk up kinda hiding and looking at Jake very curious.

I now use curtains infront of all the cages so Henry doesn't have to see them all day.... and vise verse.

I think I was trying to tie in the curtains to the bamboo because the curtain rod is held up by bamboo....

This is a support I made of bamboo sticks for Henry's range. He will walk out onto this perch when he doesn't want to get wet.
