Bamboo branches

I am setting up my first panther chameleon enclosure and want to know if it is safe to use bamboo branches to attach my fake leaves to. If not, what should i use. Also, if I want to add a live hibiscus or pothos do I need to cover the soil with anything?

Hey there :)

As long as the branches are free from chemicals, they should be safe. So if they are store bought, wash the heck out of them. ;)

I would recommend a pothos for any enclosure.

Hibiscus is very nice too, but they tend to require a 6500k plant bulb(or sunlight) to do well at all. I personally would recommend covering the soil with something. You do not want them eating it, especially if its soil with fertilizers and such in it(most people recommend re-potting with organic soil).

Hope that was helpful! :p

Have fun...

the bamboo I would pick from the wild. And I just went to the reptile store to pick up some safe soil to replant what ever plant i decide to get.

Sounds great to me ;)

If you are going to use the bamboo live, you may check on if its toxic. I believe some bamboo, or at least bamboo look alikes are toxic. Im not sure though.
