Bald Ficus

:( The guy said it had leaves 3 weeks ago. Lol! Oh well, we'll see what happens. I didn't think it was a ficus either but I felt bad and didn't want to be rude to the guy. He told me he had it for 4 years and that it was a really nice tree. :p So, I brought the thing home. Hahah!

Ok, here are a few pictures of my "ficus" which I now don't think it's one but I don't know. What do you guys think it is? I don't want to put something in Hughs cage that will make him sick.:)

Free, hmm got a beautiful one at Home Depot for 15 bucks, just because its free doesn't mean its a good deal.

time to save up the change and bring in cans and bottles to be recycled! :) That's what I do when I'm short on cash and need some. Well, I do it normally anyways, but I try harder when I need cash. I usually put it into my emergency vet funds.

I recommend you just buy a cheap pothos. If you water it every day and give it a light, it will be huge in a month. Mine are almost as big as my 3 foot wide, three feet tall umbrella. :)

ha ha even if does come back it's just going to be a trunk with leaves on it.
Not much use without branches..... for chams anyway.

Hey now, I brought back a trunk and after a few months is turned into a mini tree. :) Then I let it die again...

I saw like the tinest pothos at the dollar store the other day:eek:... Lol! It was like three stems and three leaves. Maybe I should have gotten it and let it grow.

They grow really fast. Once they start growing out their vines you can just hack them off and stick more in the soil to get more vines.

Damn, I should have gotten it. I'll go back and maybe there still will be some left. Or, I can go to Walmart and chop a peice off of one in the nursery and bring it home, lol! The nurseries are always lonely there... JK I'd never do that.

I have a ficus tree that's about 15 yrs old. We put it outside about 18 mos ago when it was pretty bare. It took a handful of months but it finally came back to life. I had pruned it down pretty far, so when it came back, it was quite short, but very, very bushy. It looked healthier than ever. Then, I made the mistake of thinking that it was so hardy, it could survive freezing temps. Yeah, I know....pretty stupid! Anyway, the leaves froze and of course all fell off. Now that it's spring, I'm so hoping it will come back. We pruned it all the way to the bottom of the trunk about 5 weeks ago and still it shows no sprouts or any hope of rebirth. I decided that maybe going at it from the roots was the better way to coax it. So yesterday I tried to pull it up out of the pot in order to prune the roots and it is so well grounded in with a very extensive root system that I wasn't able to lift it out, so I did cut back the few roots I was able to pull up. Do you think there's any hope of it coming back? Should I work at it some more to get it out of the pot and repot it? The thought of losing it entirely is quite sad since I've had it for so long!
