Help

Tons. Are you familiar with epoxy? If you search “Bioactive Mentor” you can see my latest set of backgrounds built for my Nosy Be. I can do any thing from translucent morphs to graphic inlays to UV glow work to Hidden LEDs. We can make it as complex and layered or as simple as you want it. These pictures do absolutely no justice to any of these samples, each has about 100X more depth and detail than my IPhone can capture....

You can also look me up on Facebook for more examples!

this is what I plan on buying. I think I can buy this for about 70 bucks

I have that background for my bearded dragon, came with the enclosure. It is good but I imagine you would want to paint it to look more tropical as that is a desert style background.

If it were me in your shoes I would pay brodybreaux the $125 and get something you really want and not cheaply made stuff. I swear I’ll never buy zoo med, zilla, exo terra products unless I’m forced to

I couldn’t do a stone/epoxy one for less than $175, both methods are very time consuming...

Have you considered building your own from GreatStuff foam and stone texture sprays?

Thank you both for your input, I appreciate it. I think I may look into the great stuff that's a good idea

I just recently bought some great stuff to do something in a dragon strand medium tall atrium. Anyone try pressing real stones into it while it dries or something like that? Would that just add too much weight, you think? I’m perusing all background threads to gather up ideas!

I think that would add to much weight. You could carve it to look like rocks and seal it with grout and paint it with acrylic paint to get the look you want.

It’s not really meant to hold that much weight. I was able to mount some
Back drops between my screen and dragon ledges though. You have to be very careful with how much weight you’re putting on them as each ledge is only meant to hold so much weight.

not sure if you have seen this but here’s bills explanation for how to spread out the weight more with your dragon ledges.

For some of the stone texture I did on my most recent build, I took black Great Stuff, carved it up, used some acrylic paints to get the look I wanted, and then sealed it with outdoor (water based) Varathane. And then I used LiquidRubber to slap on some cocofibre.

You could also carve up the background and add a stone texture spray. @jamest0o0 @JoXie411 - what was the name of the stuff y'all used?
