Baby with one eye closed

Help!!! I have a month old baby Jackson that keeps his left eye closed for long periods of time. Yet, sometimes he looks fine. I saw him scrubbing his eye on a vine, maybe to get something out????
Also he takes small naps during the day is this normal?
I have an adult veiled and I don't remember him taking "naps"
Please help I'm worried!

Huge thing with babies is making sure humidity is good and they are getting enough to drink. they move around a bunch at this age and dehydrate quickly. Fill the form out so we can better help you.

Your Chameleon - Baby Jackson captive bred I've had him for 2 days
Handling - Only handled him to get I'm into his new home
Feeding - Pinheads cup fed. Gutloaded with fresh greens( havnt seen him eat yet. Still settling in
Supplements - Havnt supplemented yet, not quite sure on what a Jackson needs. Help!!
Watering - misting with small pump sprayer with reptisafe additive and using a solo cup dripper
Fecal Description - Havnt found any yet
History - captive bred baby from reputable shop that specializes in reptiles. He's very young and I'm not 100% sure that they should be sold so new??

Cage Info:
Cage Type - 18wide x 18 tall x 12 deep , screen enclosure
Lighting - Reptisun UVB coil bulb (I hear these are ok now) in exoterra fixture, basking light is a flukers mini dome with 40w household bulb
Temperature - Basking a bit lower then 80 and around 70 in covered areas
Humidity - Stays around 75 on hydrometer , 2 umbrella plants help with humidity and have an Absorber around the back half of the cage to catch misting AND keeps the humidity up
Plants - 2 umbrella plants with good drainage
Placement - corner of the room, small traffic , 3 foot tall table
Location - Tennessee

Current Problem - my new Jackson is very alert, moves around a lot but tars naps normal for baby?? MAINLY I'm concerned he has something wrong with his left eye. Often times I see him with that eye closed and the right eye perfectly normal.
I saw him scratching his eye against a vine to maybe get something out??
I'm not a total newbie as I've had a veiled for a long time. I now think I'm ready to try a Jackson but I'm worried sick!!! Help!

Maybe he has a bit of shed stuck in that eye? It can't hurt to mist him more. Try making sure you mist an entire quart of water.

He is very young and the transition affects each individual differently. Some take longer than another to acclimate. Main thing is getting this animal feeling safe with age specific care. It sounds like your care is good. If i could only recommend a few things. 1. you may need to free range your feeders. Some will take to cup feeding and some wont. If the animal will eat. it will for sure take free ranged. dump them on the plant or take the cup and let them climb out and onto the screen. 2. water, You need to be sure you are offering enough water. Spraying for 3-5 minutes 3 times a day is great. This will allow the animal to drink and also clean the eye out of any debris if that is indeed the problem with eye closed. 3. Only visit the cage when necessary. i know you want to admire and at the moment the animal is worrying you. Be sure you are doing everything correct. If your misting schedule was sub par, hopefully following what i have stated will help this young one out.

He could very well have something in the eye. when spraying the cage dont heavily mist him. Let the outside of the spray pattern fall upon him from above. Hopefully this will work anything out of the eye if this what causing the one eye closed and rubbing it on a branch. Sleeping during the day imo is a little more than just having debris in the eye though. Everything looks good with your care, I would make sure the animal is getting enough water.

Thanks Trillian! Those were helpful! Only thing is, nothing was really said about babies as young as the one I have. I was told I shouldnt supplement him until he got a bit bigger?
When I got my veiled he was a juvi and I supplimented him the first week he was mine.
There also seems to be mixed ideas about what a Jackson needs. Any ideas?
