Baby Veiled with closed eye, help?

only certain types of coil bulbs manufactured more in euro caused problems years ago..alot has been resolved, but of course..."monkey hear monkey say"?
lol people always just assume coil bulbs=eye problems. humans can get eye problems from staring at bulbs in their own homes. So should we all go replace them to fluorescent bulbs? Hardly!!

thats my beef..eat it up

Its the amount of UV the bulbs produce. Your argument about bulbs in our home is not palpable or relevant to the discussion. It is not the bulbs themselves rather the amount or excess/uneven UVB produced by the bulbs. I am willing to bet if you stare into a coil or any bulb for that matter you will damage your eyes. Typically humans do not stare into the bulbs or set them inches above our head.

I agree with you that not all the bulbs are bad but they have been proven to be a problem and siding on the err of caution is not a bad idea. Personally I choose to wait for more proof the bulbs are better before I will use them. IMO I see more proof that they should not be used.

Some more information to backup your claim would be nice. How about we start with what bulbs have been proven safe for chameleons eyes. You did not add much to the discussion other than useless banter. I would love to learn more about the improved coil bulbs.

People might find you more credible if your sentence structure made any kind of sense.

Anywaysssss, I would trust what users with good experience has to say. Who knows what kind of advice this guy is offering. Sounds more like a chip on a shoulder than advice looking for the best solution. Everyone else hes offered good advice so far. Don't be derailed by the nonsense.

Didn't know this was a grammar/spelling forum?
Lets break this down shall we?
New Baby Chameleon:

-health issues from supplier? sure
-health issues from birth? sure
-health issues from being in a new habitat? sure
-health issues from a coil bulb after a few days? not likely

Coil Vs. Linear Lights

Hey,
I have a young cham too. Got him at 2 1/2 months old I've had him for less than a week. Since I have a small cage (16x16x32?) I could only buy a hood that was small enough to fit on it and the only bulbs that fit was the coil. Just beware of using them because although my cham, Pascal :), had been healthy I noticed today he started closing his eye. Not for long periods of time, but for a minute or so and then re-opening. When i read on this site that it wasn't healthy for him to have that light, I immediately removed it and he's now basking in the natural sunlight for a little bit since I live in sunny San Diego. Just be careful, a little more expense is worth it in the long run. I'm glad I found out about this now rather than later.
