Baby Veiled sleeping during day??

Chameleon Info:

Your Chameleon - Veiled, 2-3mnths (?) was told male, three days.
Handling -Not often
Feeding - Ate 5 crickets today and possibly some plant matter (along with a cricket)
Supplements - Bought only one supplement for the time being, Rep Cal calcium no D3
Watering - Dripper system, and misting twice a day.
Fecal Description - Mainly black, small bit of white. <- (Curious to know what the 'healthy' color is)
History - Only know the pet store free-range fed and had him in a glass enclosure.

Cage Info:

Cage Type - Screen, 2 X 2 X 2. (temporary)
Lighting - Reptisun linear 5.0 on 6:00am off 6:00pm (best for my schedule for now till I can buy a timer)
Temperature - I haven put the tempature gauges in yet but the room is at 76 constantly and the basking lamp is on with the uvb.
Humidity - Misting 2+ a day, thinking of adding plastic to a side of the cage to help with humidity, humidity gauge isn't in yet.
Plants - Pathos vine for now, hope to add hibiscus once I figure out how to handle his adult cage. The Pathos is a large one, vines tied all over the cage so he can climb.
Placement - Cage stands 4 1/2 feet high at the top of the cage, in my room only I come in. Away from vent and covered at night partially due to fan.
Location - Tucson Arizona

Current Problem: Hanging upside down under UVB with both eyes closed. Basking or sick??

they will hang upside down under the light but I don't think he should be closing his eyes. Is he only doing it while under the uvb light?

What are its times for morning and night? Try stick to 12 hours and be consistent (9am rise, 9pm sleep). If this is disturbed or they are woken during their sleep it can make them tired during the day so it doesn't necessarily point to something wrong with them. Keep an eye on him he may just be drained from stressed it takes a while for baby chams to settle it (it's normal for them to not eat for even a week when you first get them).

Sorry just noticed your times, a later rise and sleep would be preferable as you can keep him awake by walking around his cage at night.

When I have to work in the mornings its usually around 6am. Still working on getting a timer, its my next purchase on payday. Thanks for the response!

I got him to eat 7 crickets today, 4 by hand feeding. Really excited as its his first time eating and I got him to hand feed. All dusted in calcium too, so I'm happy about that.

Does anyone know if 25 uvb is too high? I have a 5.0 because its recommended and that's the one I use, but I have a 25 uvb that came with the headlamp I bought. (Only way to get the size I needed for the 5.0)

Pet store said the more uvb the better, but as I read on this forum that's not the case?

Stick to the 5.0 that's the best for them. the 25 won;t kill him but can make him ill, you;re better off selling it. Glad to hear he is hand feeding :) I did this a lot with mines when he was a baby and would leave his cage open when I was in the room so he got used to me, I also would ignore him is he hissed or lunged at my hands, I would stay perfectly still and not flinch, over time he realised I meant no harm and I also wasnt scared of him. He's now the most affectionate, confident and outgoing chameleon :)
