baby panther in big enclosure

hi all,

I plan to house my new baby panther cham (will be ca. 3 months old when arrives) in quite a big enclosure (120 cm high x 110 cm wide x 80 cm deep), do you think it will do good there? I will feed from custom made feed cup, so that shouldn't be a problem.

How does other experienced people think, use something smaller until cham gets bigger, or go straight to the enclosure described above?

They will be fine IF they find the food. That is the only consideration. Since you are cup feeding you should be fine. The only concern for babies is if you are just throwing in a dozen crickets and letting nature take its course.

Your other choice since the cage is so big, is to put a small 5 gallon fish tank in it, and put the crickets or other bugs in it. Babies do like to hunt so they will not cup train right away.

At least thats what i do. I have no problem putting veilds in 3ftx3xftx7ft cages. I just throw in a spare fish tank and put some sticks over it. Its like the worlds biggest feeder cup.

I had mine in a 5 gal bucket inside the cage fir the first few days. I set up two feeding stations (one for crickets and roaches and the other for worms) that he figured out quick.

Anyhow, here is what I did.

My 3 month old went into his 2x2x4 reptibreeze cage the first day I got him. Depending on how he takes to it, you may need to monitor his food intake for the first few days, or when he becomes comfortable with his new home. I cup fed and placed a couple on the screen nearby for him to see. It only took about 4 days for him to start roaming all over his cage.

He was roughly the same size as one of the fake leaves

My 3 1/2 month old panther went right into a 18x18x36 inch screen enclosure. I cup feed him every day, moving some crickets to the screen. He really loves to hunt them on the screen. I have found that some of the tinier crickets can't even climb the screen, so cup feeding is great. I have a lot of plants and vines for Newton to climb on. He seems to love exploring top to bottom

thanks for your answers, cup feeding + monitoring food intake is on my list, so should be fine.

once done with my enclosure, will post some pics, it's fully diy cage, made of furniture boards.
