hi everyone! I will be going to pick up my first baby panther chameleon at the end of this week and want to make sure I have his cage all set up before then. I am going to buy all the stuff tomorrow-cage, lights, plants, supplements-and would love any advice on what all I need to set up the perfect home for him. I am going to be a first time chameleon owner so really ANY and ALL advise will be welcomed and appreciated.

hello there and welcome to the cf
first i would buy his big boy cage off the hop 24x24x48 would be best but as close as possible will be fine.You will want a 5.0 uvb tube style light repti sun and a 60 watt household clear bulb maybe 100 watt. depends on the setup you will want a basking spot for a baby to be about 85 (as he gets older this will get hotter). and the bottom of the cage around 75 or so. LOTS of foliage live plants are best pothos is a favorite ,ficus sheffierra aribicola ect. there is a safeplant list lindsaycooperpanther wrote a blog here on the forum with a great list. also fake plants are ok aswell. you will need a dripper (little dripper ) is most common some kind of mister either automatic or hand misting is fine. you will also want some kind of draining system for you cageas there will be the need for lots of humidity 60% or higher and try to stay away from substrate repyi carpet is great i have screen bottom and i line it with paper towel fo easy disposal of feces and leaves and bugs ect. no night lights at all unless it gets below 60 at night then you will need a sixty watt heat emitter (does not emit light) you will need the proper supplimets aswell repashy calcium plus is easiest. you can also buy calcium w/o d3 every feeding and calnium with d3 twice a month and a multivitamin i use rep-cal herpavite (beta carotine).
