I have a 5 month old female panther Cham and isn't growing. I have my basking temp 89 degrees and am using a reptisun 10. She's a inch nose to vent and shed last week in one day full body. I feed only crickets about 12 a day and won't eat reptiworms out of tray. I mist three times daily. I just cant get my baby girl to grow. The male ambilobe is doing great but scared half the time. Please help thxs

measure these temps? Digital probe

Your husbandry is good to go. She might just be a runt. 1inch is so small! Can you post a pic?

Hello and welcome to the forums. I have a few suggestions but they may not help with her size. I think your basking spot is too warm for a baby that size especially for a female. Most here use a Reptisun 5.0 for UV the 10 might be too much on that tiny cage. I would highly recommend a larger variety of gut load and offer way more feeders than just crickets. Silkworms should put some weight on her. You also need plain calcium dust to use at every feeding and only use the D3 twice a month and the vitamin dust twice a month. Below is my blog for how I raise panthers and veileds and also my blog for the female egg laying and laying bin. Females can and often do lay eggs without a male even being around.

That's good to here bebo thxs. I lowered the basking temp to 85 degrees that was recommended in another thread I made. Am goin to switch to the 5.0 just need the funds for the online purchase of the 5.0 I need another as well for my boy Beast. So after that my lighting should be perfect for her my digital probe is looking good for temps. I use collard greens and a flukers high calcium gutload is there a better way. I do the four hour gutload where I gutload crickets and feed 4 hours later. Silkworms are alittle big even for my two inch male nose to vent. I tryed mealworms reptiworms Dubia roach and mealworms and won't touch them. I seen her eat a Dubia a quarter inch size one that I put on screen. I just don't want loose dubias in her cage and getting them in my home because they breed fast. Calcium sounds good just have to locate a repcal without d3 and vitamins only twice a month hmm ok. The people I got her from said weekly hmm. I'll take a look at your blog and read up. I have no plans to breed them so eggs aren't a issue.

eggs will still be an issue they lay eggs regardless of male contact or not and the twice a month that jann suggested is correct:D:D

I got the male from flchams.com and should have some yellow someday. He is suppose to be a rare clutch or something.

Hi.

She sounds really tiny....I would love to see a picture of her, preferably with something of a recognizable size in the picture with her. If that turns out to be your finger, maybe post a second picture of your finger next to a ruler.

I know people love to think their fingers are a good indicator of size, but my fingers are much bigger than my 17 year old daughter who, for some reason, has the hands of a 5 year old...and much, much smaller than my husband's who has what I can only describe as "man hands".

Am I the only one who see the fecal description where it says " tomato colored urates"??!?!!?
You are not giving her enough water, she should be misted longer and several times a day.
now when you say " tomato colored urates" does that mean orangey or RED?

Orangey urines and it wont let me post a photo with my phone. The only Internet I have at the moment. Please help with that if you can. Got very overwhelmed.

Good catch Al.

Ambilobe, you need to get more liquids into her. Can you set up a dripper? It can be as simple as a plastic cup or bottle with a pin hole in it. If you can let that drip for several hours, or all day every day, that would help a lot. Also, try gutloading your crickets with melon or oranges for a couple of days. If you can get your hands on horn worms or silk worms, those are both much wetter feeders. Even wax or butter worms (usually available at Petco) are wetter than crickets and will help with your hydration problem.

I have done a DIY dripped but never works drips for 5 minutes. I have noticed that her tougue is purple and not working to catch a cricket. Then has a hard time rolling it back in? What can I do

Poke a bigger hole in the cup and know that it will slow down later....drippers are weird how ever you do them, but she needs that available water.

I don't know about the tongue, but I do know that getting that hydration up is going to let her system work on other issues.

Get the dripper going and keep it going as long as possible while she recovers. Once she is recovered you will be able to have the dripper running for a few hours a day, but for now, I think she needs it during all waking hours.

We can help you with drainage issues if that is a problem. But for now, pack the bottom of the cage with towels and get the dripper going. Make sure it bounces off leaves as soon as possible...if you do it right, a single dripper can spray drops over a fairly large area.

I tryed a red plastic cup you know the ones ppl have when they have party's. I used a pin and made four holes. Nothing comes out? This is why a auto mister from zoomed would work well. But can't with there zoomed reptibreeze cages there's no holes. I barely got the cord for my probe to come out the bottom. Chameleons are getting stupid to me.

If you dont have money for a little dripper...you can get a 2 liter soda can and poke a semi big hole and stick tubeing in it and super glue ir so it doesnt drip from the tube connected to can ...and you control the drip with the cap....

Am not doin that I mist them good enough. They open there mouth at me but whatever.

If you think you mist them good enough or not is irrelevant. If they aren't getting enough water you have to make sure they are. A dripper would ensure they have water available more often and can be super cheap and easy - so why not. Seems pretty win win to me.

As melonman said, tubing can be your friend. Head to a place that sells aquarium supplies and get some tubing and an "air hose" valve that fits it. Poke a hole about 2/3 the size of the tubing in a cup or bottle, jam the tubing in the hole, cut the tube so it puts the end where you want your drip (ideally it should drip onto leaves, then more leaves, etc), put the valve in and you can control the flow. Even then, weirdness happens so watch it, you might need to adjust the flow a couple of times.

Remember to loosen the cap if you use a bottle...a tight cap will restrict or even stop the flow.

I have a air hose and a air pump can I do anything with that?
