My boy has the same sire. His name is Amaro. I chose it because it meant bitter (His personality) but apparently it is also a type of liquor. lol

Holy moly big boy! U let him free roam outside? U think we are going to get some of those cool blue cues in ours? ?

He just sits on my arm and soaks up the sun, in that cute little basking pose with his hand up.

My boy looks quite similar to his sire. He has the same teal casque stripe as him even, along with the blue dots and yellow bands. He is also quite big at 9 months. 15 1/2 inches long nose to tail tip.

I dont know, honestly! But hopefully he will.

Very nice!

Except it looks like you've got the wrong lighting. You are going to want to get a T5HO 5.0 reptisun. (or a T5HO Arcadia 6%) You will want to get one long enough to run the length of your enclosure. I use a 24''.

For basking bulb you can just use a regular 60-70 watt bulb. Basking temps should be around 83 for his age.

You basking branch looks far too close to your lights. You want them 8-10 inches away at least.

Fill this out, then I can correct any other husbandry issues :)

Chameleon Info:
  • Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
  • Veild
  • Male
  • 2//3 months
  • Just got him today. So only had him for a few hour
Try not to bother him. Leave him be to settle in.
  • Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
  • haven’t handled him yet

  • Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
  • Crickets (about 5 a day) I feed him in the morning. Gut load with fruits and flukers high calmcium feed
I would cup feed. Put 15 small crickets in a cup and let him eat as much as he pleases. It normal for him not to eat properly for the first few days, he is settling in.

Okay so for gutloading you are going to want to use lots of leafy greens, veggies, and a bit of fruit. I will post a gutloading sheet below. Its also recommended to include some sort of commercial gutload, such as Bug Burger or Cricket Crack (both can be found on amazon I believe)

  • Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
  • Repti calcium
  • Reptivite vitamins with d3
You will need a calcium with d3, and calcium without d3, and reptivite without d3.
Schedule:
Calcium w/o d3 every day/feeding
Calcium w/d3 once every other week
Reptivite w/o d3 once every other week. Alternate the weeks with d3 and multivitamin.

Basically what I do is Calcium without d3 every feeding (my boy is older so he doesn't eat every day) then I dust with my reptivite instead on one feeding during the weekend. Same thing for the next week except you use d3 for that one feeding. Alternate basically. The d3/multivitamin feeding doesn't have to be on the weekend, just in the same relative time each week.

  • Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
  • I hand spray and have a dripper
  • I spray him about 5 times a day 1-3 mins. Saw him drink a few drops today
I would spray for 2-4 minutes in the morning, and then 2-4 minutes in the evening, maybe a short mist midday. And then run the dripper throughout the day.
  • Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
  • He hasn’t pooped yet
I would get him tested for parasites as soon as you can. When he poops note what it looks like. There should a be a solid brown part with a small white/off white urate. There shouldn't be any mucus or undigested food.
  • History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.
  • Got him from FLchams looks like a great place. So I’m sure his a great healthy Cham.
Mine came with coccidia (parasite), but it could've just been a fluke. Hence why I want you to get a fecal when you can.

Cage Info:
  • Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
  • Zoomed Screened cage 18x18x36
This will be fine for a couple months. Then you will want to upgrade to something larger.
  • Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
  • I have the lights hovering a few inches from the screen
  • Zoomed blue heating bulb
  • Had a 5.0 ubv that blew out. So I’m using the repti100 26w. Which I believe is equivalent to ubv 10, going to switch it soon to the zoomed 10.0 26w
You are going to want to get a T5HO 5.0 reptisun, the long fluorescent bulbs. (or a T5HO Arcadia 6%) You will want to get one long enough to run the length of your enclosure. I use a 24''. Any compact uvb bulb is not good.

For basking bulb you can just use a regular 60-70 watt bulb. Basking temps should be around 83 for his age. Basking lights should be white/off white, no colors.

You basking branch looks far too close to your lights. You want them 8-10 inches away at least.

  • Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
-the basking spot is 88.2 at the moment and a few inches below is about 76 degrees and bottom of cage is about 66.
Lower that basking spot to about 83. Make sure to lower your highest branch to about 8-10 inches away from your lights.
  • Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
  • Humidity reading 80 (tropical)
Wayyyyy too high! Humidity should only be 30-40 percent. At night it should be 80-100.
  • I have live plants and have coconut fiber substrate. And I mist to create the humidity
I would toss the cocofiber substrate.
  • Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
  • i have a live potted umbrella plant

  • Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor? I have it In the basement on a stand and it’s about 4 feet of the floor

How do I lower the humidity? Also I live in north east. Pretty cold right now. And wouldn’t he just go to a lower branch if he feels too hot? Or you think I will sunburn him?

No. Even if they are getting burned, they wont move to another spot. Burns are very common if the basking spot is too hot or if the branch is too close. They dont feel pain or heat like we do.

Getting rid of the cocofiber would probably help, as I said before. Cococfiber doesn't really have a purpose unless you are going to go bioactive, which is a whole other topic.

What are you measuring humidity with? It could be off.

I’m measuring with the humidity meter that cane with the kit and keeping it at the bottom of cage.

Ah. Did you get the chameleon kit? Is the humidity gauge a little circle with a dial? The tend to be a bit inaccurate. Also you will want to keep it around the middle of the cage, because he will be hanging out around the middle-top area.

@cyberlocc Do you know of any decent hygrometers..I would suggest the one i've got but I cant find it on amazon anymore.
