baby chameleon feeder

I want to get a baby panther chameleon, preferably a nosy be, but i'm not picky. what would the best feeder be? I'm still researching everything as I'm saving up money, so I have a while to figure it out. Also I heard crickets stink, so what are some not so smelly options?

Dubias and BSFL seem to be popular choices outside of crickets for staple feeders.

There are so many options! Assuming you mean a 3-4ish month old, many people use roaches in place of crickets(myself included). They are cleaner, easier, nutritious, etc. Really their only downside is that they carry the stigma of being roaches lol. Silkworms are another great option and chams tend to love them. Then there's black soldier fly larvae/adult flies, superworms/hornworms(fed less often), snails are awesome if you can find them, and phasmids/mantids/grasshoppers/etc. You'll really want a solid variety rather than 1 type of feeder, so those are all good places to start.

Thank you for the chart! I'm not personally a fan of roaches, but I'll deal with them for the stake of a healthy and happy chameleon

Thanks for all the recommendations! What are the best websites/breeders to buy bugs from? I'm about 98% sure I won't be allowed to breed them in my house, and in all honesty, I'd prefer not to.

Depends what you're looking for. @snitz427 is my go-to for silkworms. I've tried many places for silks and they don't match the quality of getting from a good forum member. Nick barta at fullthrottlefeeders often has great mantids and phasmids available. For things like black soldier larvae, bottleflies, and hornworms many of us use places like rainbow mealworms or joshsfrogs. Many places sell roaches, myself included(I have a pretty large variety, some not so 'roachy' lol). I also have several isopod species which can make snacks and/or cleaner crews for the viv. Snails are amazing feeders, but are illegal to ship over state lines so you must collect them from the wild and breed or get some from a restaurant nearby. Hoppers and katydids can be wildcaught, some species might be legal... tbh their legality confuses me lol.

Bsfl do not need to be dusted if you get those. Also they turn into the fly in a month or so and chams love that too!
