Current Problem - Sometimes we have noticed him napping for short periods no more than an hour at a time i've been reading this is bad not sure if its because he is young or if I need to tweak his habitat.

Well, the first thing is that he needs to eat way more than 4-6 crickets a day. Hatchlings should be eating as many as they can in about 10 minutes 2-3 times a day. Make sure they are proper size. It is small enough to eat if the insect is smaller than (from side to side, not head to butt) the space between the chameleon's eyes. Get a plain calcium ASAP. You can use ground up boiled egg shells until you can get the plain calcium. Gut loading should start immediately. The easiest thing for now would be to start feeding the crickets fruits and veggies (then look into good dry gut loads to use as well.)

His cage may also be too big for him to be able to properly find food and get adequate UVB. Hatchlings are usually kept in plastic tote bins or very small screen cages. Also, stop touching him or bothering him except to feed and mist. They need to be able to settle into their new homes without the stress of being touched for at least a week or two.
