"Autoimmune hemolytic anemia was diagnosed in a Parson's chameleon, Calumma parsonii parsonii, based on weakness, lethargy, anemia, autoagglutination of erythrocytes, Rouleaux formation, anisocytosis, and hemolytic serum. While no etiology was determined, treatment of the anemia consisted of immunosuppressive therapy (prednisone), cimetidine, and cross-matched whole blood transfusions from three siblings.
