Ate an anole

So Waldo is outside sunning right now in his freerange. About 10 minutes ago, I saw him focus on something. I was a bit confused and then, BOOM! I saw him eat a wild anole. Mind you the thing was like half the size of Waldo. I think thats enough food for him today.

i wouldn't so much be worried about him eating one on accident, what i would worry about are parasites. in a month from now, i suggest a fecal test just to make sure he didnt pick anything up

Yeah, I guess its good to get one every month even if they don't eat anything wild. Just to be safe.

yea. They can still get parasites even if they dont eat wild bugs. Crickets can carry them too.

HE JUST ATE ANOTHER! Should I move him away from his freerange for now? There seems to be a lot of anoles.

Umm. I wouldn't let him eat so many wild creatures, especially at once. As has been stated, they could contain parasites...

I don't like him eating wild stuff. Those were the first wild things he has eaten in my care, and they were both accidents. Oh well, I guess ill just be more careful!

Parasites are whatever, like Laurie said, crickets carry them and they can get them from eating their "captive" food. What I'd be more concerned about, is the fact that since he's finding them in an urban area, these anoles could have been eating insects covered in pesticides or running around in fertilized/pesticide-laden grass. Mine have gotten a hold of wild geckos before, but that's always something you have to keep in mind.

I've heard people collect wild bugs/anoles and keep them for a day or two to see that thy hadn't ingested something that would make them ill, and thereby make the chameleon ill.

Oh, I see. Im gonna keep an eye on him to make sure he's okay. He ate like a monster. Around 20-30 crickets and two anoles. Kind of crazy.
