Are young slugs a safe food???

Weather has been getting nicer so I have my jackson's outside. Noticed he was going after something small on a leaf; turned out to be a very young slug about the size of a small finger nail. I removed the slug since I wasn't sure these are OK for a cham to eat. This is the second time he's gone after one.

The slugs are very small and I'm not worried about them containing any toxic substances from any slug killers; I'm just uncertain if they are something OK for him to eat. What do you think?

Jacksons seem to love slugs and small snails. I have never found either small enough in my garden yet to see if Monty likes them. I did find some snails that I am keeping to try and breed them. My friend feeds her Jacksons slugs and small snails (the larger they are the tougher their shells. I wouldn't feed either on a regular basis, but as occasional treats I will offer them when I find some small enough! I would make sure that they don't come from anywhere that has been treated with pesticides. If you can't be sure then err on the side of caution and don't feed it to him. I'm sure my Monty would love a juicy slug, but all the ones in my garden are enormous orange things bigger than him!
