Are Vet Visits Necessary Even Without Problems?

You don’t HHAAVVEE too take the chameleon. Regular fecal check are good enough if your chameleon is not showing any signs of distress… With a fecal all you have to do is take a fresh poo sample into the vet and they will check it to see if your chameleon is harboring and unwanted pests.

Do you still need to put twigs and branches in the travel cage? Or can I just have it flat?

Personally, I would only take them to the vet if
1. It's wc
2. The feces does not look normal
3. Something is wrong with the cham
4. Or if you really want to for your sake, after 6 months of age. I don't think they can do much for a teensy cham imo
That will save you some money for real emergencies unless of course you have the money then regular checkups when they're older i'd do.

OK THANKS GUYS! Any pics of normal poo though? My cham's poo is black with a bit of white and some... pee? Transparent liquid.

i believe if you have a relationship with a vet, have a well growing captive bred cham a vet visit is unnecessary. if you are new like me a vet visit will potentially reveal unnoticed problems.
i take mine in a critter cage with a bent vine in the middle to hang on and damp paper towels in the bottom
often vets will not do fecal unless you have a relationship

Well, Im lucky that there is a nearby vet that do exotic practice. He treated one of my bearded dragons and saved the life of my sugar glider. Better than nothing I suppose.

Not as rare as the chameleon.
Sugar gliders boost in availability the past few years though. Easy to breed.
In my area(Cebu), both are still rare.

When i transport my chams i don't use any twigs. I use a plastic container that has holes drilled on both sides, covered w/brown paper bags, so it stays dark and he doesn't get stressed, and twisted paper towels on the bottom for him to hold on to and it helps cushion the bumps in the road, unless you're driving in NY then nothing is going to help, lol. Also make sure when you transport that he is not in the sun or near the heater or air conditioner. Watch your temps in the car!!!!
I always bring a new cham to the vet for an overall check up and if he passes then i only go if i suspect a problem. I do regular fecals every 3-6 mos depending on the cham and if it is w/c or c/b.

When I take my cham to the vets I put her in a plastic box with some plastic foliage (plus breathing holes!) and put that inside a shoe box. I find it helps to keep the light and noises out whilst regulating the temperature (the air between the inside of the shoe box and the outside of the plastic tub).

The best way is to get the vet to visit your house
(a bit hard to do, unless if you and your vet are best bud).
