seriously, i would have to say "EWWW!!!" to that kind of thermometer.
I used to have those and (like Lbesok said) suck so bad.
U get better readings using "accurite" thermometer or if you have the dough buy those temp gun. They are fantastic.

I have a thermometer and hydrometer from them, the thermometer seems to be accurate but the humidity says it's 80-90 and my digital one says it's only 50-60. I'm not sure which to believe, their seems to be plenty of water droplets left in the cage even hours after misting.

i would put more faith into the digital one.

trust me, when the humidity is 90% you can definitely tell even without a hygrometer.

I dont use thermometers or hydrometers.
Buy a good IR thermometer.
Way better then any probe and way more accurate.
Plus you can measure different things like basking body temp and various areas around the cage.
I use the second one down.

I've actually used that one, it came in a batch of stuff I bought on ebay last year from my frogs. It's HORRIBLE! I could tell it wasn't accurate (50% humidity when I can see condensation on the tank walls??!!), and verified it with a digital one I got later.

I use the same style temp gun that justin uses and its great. If you can track one down in the UK, i would opt for that.

I've got one digital one i'll get another. The thing is i'm not going to pay over £20 for a thermometer lol. So i'll get the same as i've got now which was about £7
