I looked into my roach colony and the water crystals were full of the really small bugs. Are these mites? Please respond!!!!

The little dots in the bottom of the egg crate are bugs.

Might seem like a stupid question

Do they move?

Yes, I first saw them when I rehydrated the dry water crystal in my roach bin. As I started to pour water in and about 50-60 of the little bugs in the picture just ran out of the water bowl. I looked to check for more and I found a bunch in the portions of egg crate that I made into section of 3 single egg crates.

Word on mites and roaches:

Its perfectly fine, and hissers come with mites from the get go, as roach body cleaner crews.

Unlike mealworms, mites in the roaches are non harmful.

You do however want to keep the humidity down and cycle the food daily to keep them from turning a sea of mites.

As long as you change the food every 2 days the eggs will never hatch and they will have to live off the frass/mold/spillage.

Can these spread and hurt my animals?
