Are there any species of Hibiscus that aren't safe for chams?

I am not sure about all types. Most aren't harmful. But sticking with the mainstay, yellow, orange, pink or red, should help. I have used them many times before, and never had any issues. Just don't get too attached to the flowers, as your veil will eat them.

Found some Hibiscus Syriacus on Amazon for a reasonable price. Just hope they're ok for him.

Oh no - I appreciate that. I'm just wondering specifically about the Hibiscus Syriacus.

To my knowledge both are perfectly safe.

If I remember correctly, hibiscus are very difficult to keep alive indoors. So I'm not sure what exactly you plan to do with it, but outside enclosure use for these plants is best

That is a temperate species that needs a winter dormancy; it won't make a good houseplant in the long-term.

Heh, heh, heh--isn't that the truth!

Even my relatively small Kinyongias love to eat their hibiscus plants--one tiny bite at a time.

Having said that, they may be difficult to grow indoors.
DGray seems to have pinpointed the reason.
They are commonly referred to as "Rose of Sharon" in many places and are most often grown outdoors.
Outdoors in NY, they grow like weeds.

Even the "regular" hibiscus are a pain for me to grow indoors.
They tend to get mealy bugs, whitefly, etc.
Umbrealla plants have done well for me with a 6500K "daylight" bulb in addition to the UVB bulb for the chams.

They are said to be safe for bearded dragons and uromastyx but I do not know of anyone using them with chameleons.
