Are Small Crickets OK?

Hi Everyone:

So yesterday I had to run out to the pet store to pick up crickets but they did not have the 2-3-3/4 inchers I have been feeding to Andrew (7-month panther) - they had only 3/8-1-2 inchers ... I've been feeding him about 10+ of the larger ones a day, but how do I compensate for this with the smaller ones until they get another order in? I also picked up some supers to try and get him a little more substance/variety.

Just feed more of the smaller ones along with a super of appropriate size. I always keep at least 3 different feeders for my chams.

This might seem like a weird question - but what size super is appropriate for a 7-month panther? I really have no idea

Also when you say feed more ... say 20 or so would be good? I just dont want the little man to go hungry!

Same with me this week they only had big crix.

So i got him BFS and silkies. Tomorrow i pickup small crix for my 3 months old

A 7 month old, unless a very small 7 month old, should be able to eat any size super. If they are really small 20 or so should work.

The general rule of thumb for sizing feeders is to make sure the food item is not bigger than the space between your chams eyes. The exception to this is soft bodied feeders like hornworms or silkworms. They are easier to chew and swallow. You should still not feed a huge hornworm to a young cham IMO. They can get really big so just use common sense and you should be fine.
