Howdy Amanda,Are the mecury vapor bulbs better?...
Howdy Amanda,
What brand and model MV did you buy? If it isn't a ZooMed, T-Rex or Mega-Ray then you might have ended-up with one of the Chinese knock-offs that have some real flaws in their output pattern and UVB intensity levels. They could be harmful to a chameleon. Those three products that I mentioned are ok products in general but you will have to understand their output levels and how to set them up for safe operation. As you can see in the charts at: http://www.uvguide.co.uk/spreadchartcombo.htm, there is the potential for excessively high UVB levels if your chameleon is able to get too close. This is why you will so often see the Reptisun 5.0 recommended. It's hard to screw-up to the point of injury. By the way, it doesn't take much of a bump to break the ballast filament in a MV bulb whereas the Reptisun 5.0 will last a year and is almost bullet-proof

Howdy Amanda,...What zone/UBV intensity should I be keeping my chameleon in? (Especially if shes small, though she has tons of foliage and hiding spots)
