Are Forsythia branches safe?

I'm giving Gus, my veiled, a larger enclosure soon and need to give him some nice horizontal branches. I was wondering if anyone knows whether using Forsythia branches would be safe for him?
Thanks!

They are safe, but not very durable. They root easily, which could be useful, though the plant requires a cold dormancy.
Yes, I live in Colorado so they grow well here. The new branches look almost like large vines, but sturdy enough for a cham to walk along. That is why I was wondering if they might work.
