are fig tree branches safe?

im setting up a pygmy chameleon habitat and i just wanted to know if baked fig tree branches would be safe or not ther look good in the tank but i want to add more before getting the little guy but only if there safe if not can you please tell me if there are better options of trees that are easy to find in southern california thank you

You could use branches (scrubbed to remove possible pesticides or other chemical sprays, loose bark, moss, etc) from trees that produce edible products like maples, fruit trees (orange, lemon, cherry), pines (scrub them after cutting to remove sticky sap), willows, alders, oaks. The Ficus group includes many types of figs.
