Are changes to the enclosure stressful?

I want to shower Shayna, but can't imagine removing her live plant to put in the shower. I have smallish potted plants outside, but that would be a small unfamiliar plant in a weird white ceramic world.

I also have an old T-stand, a piece of a broomstick crosswise on a vertical pole, weighted down at the base. If I took her out, and took a plastic vine from her enclosure and wrapped it on the T-stand, would it be an adequate shower perch? Then I have to stuff the plastic vine back in the cage.

Too much environmental change?

She might be weird about it at first, but she should get used to it. I have three areas where my chameleon lives. An indoor cage, outdoor cage, and a huge screen patio which he has the run of with some plants and ropes. I just move him from place to place depending on the weather and what time of day it is. He usually is eager to move out of the cages, but when I get him outside in the free range, not so much!!!

I don't shower my Panther, but I do have a Ficus tree I have outside which I put him in every weekend for an hour or so depending on weather, and my free time. He loves hanging out there in the sun. Turns powder blue. I think its like a day at the beach for him. He is not stressed at all. I have had him for 3 months he was a little nasty at first but now is very pleasant. I just move slowly when handling and relocating him and he seems fine.

shower?

Why do you want to shower them? I purchased a power mister and he gets a shower twice a day in his cage. He loves it! I always use distilled water.

You can have them being getting constant water for 30+ minutes, and not have to worry about where it is going. It also gives you a chance to get the chameleon out so you can clean the enclosure (doing a heavy cleaning).

Besides the above reason, unlike this case, it is used to re-hydrate dehydrated specimens. Many will do this when they get their chameleon out of the shipping box, or when they acquire a WC specimen.

Shower

I didnt know that. Mine doesn't seem to like being misted for more than 5 minutes or so after that he runs for the top of his tree. I keep mine outside in the sun when I clean his cage. I do worry about salmonella and try to keep everything clean. Is this recommended or something people do when worried about hydration. I think mine gets plenty of hydration. Thanks.

It usually is recommended to do if you feel your chameleon is getting dehydrated. Usually, chams like showers. If you leave them alone, you can see them drinking, and moving in and out of the spray. It's really cool, if you like observing your chams.

I do what you do. But I give showers outside, so they can get some natural UV, and be getting water at the same time. I stay out there with them the whole time, to make sure they stay out of things they shouldn't be in. I have found when they are outside, they are more likely to drink more (at least for me), so I feel they are getting more out of it than them being inside.
