GET READY.

LightYourReptiles.com is in the process of testing the NEW MERCURY VAPOR ARCADIA 220v lamps to sell in a 110v to 220v Kit with converter.

Yes...
We all know how "Funky" those 110v Mercury vapor lamps are.

They just are not the same as 220v ones.

The 220v platform seems to support the self ballasted lamps so much better.:D

So I have been testing a new kit that includes The Awesome Arcadia 220v Mercury Vapor D3 Bulb, the very well made Arcadia Ceramic Reflector Clamp Lamp (with Euro Plug) AND pairing it up with an AFFORDABLE HIGH QUALITY 110 to 220v step up converter.

It is currently down to testing the different brands of converters to find the best one to sell with this kit.

We shall have these for sale next month!!

SIDE NOTE:
YES!
I DO have the 220v Mercury vapor lamps in 100w and 160w for sale...

IF you e-mail me @ [email protected]
They will not be up on the web-site until the kit testing is all done.
They are 39.99 ea. + 10.00 s&h
They will fit any standard (e27) socket...
but you must use with a step up converter 110v up to 220v. (At approx. double the lamps wattage as a buffer.)

As always, feel free to e-mail me with any questions and put this on your Chameleons Holiday Gift List!

Thank you!
Sincerely,
Todd

Will you have the smaller 80w in, that they recently came out with?

Im anxious to see what the UV readings are on these?!?

Arcadia MV 110 to 220v UPDATE

:)

Hi Al,

It will be just the 100 and 160w.

And I will be posting the readings soon!

FYI...I have now tested 3 types of compatable 110 to 220v converters and need to pick the best on the include in the kit!
I think it will be the extra heavy duty... even though it makes the overall "kit" price about 10.00 more... I think that is the way to go.
You would want years of service out of it!

And remember - MV bulbs are tricky things...

Ones that are too strong are bad too.
Everyone thinks you want a ton of UV out of them...
But if they have HIGH UV readings ...
you have to keep the cham (or any herp) back so far from them to avoid too much UV & burning...
they can not get warm enough
from the heat being projected becuase the heat is not enough to reach them!

So far these are looking good:)

LOL! Yessss!!!! Those are just what i need, I believe...lol

I know MV put off a lot of heat, but what kind of temps do you get from a 100w at say...10-12"? Any chance i could get ya to take a temp along with the UV reading? :D

yes. I have been taking temps.

I will have much to tell when in the next few weeks.

Some tidbits
...and just fyi.

I have had 160w and 100w running every day now for over week by the packing bench all day as I am working packing orders.

So I can heat check the 110v yo 220v up converters.

I constantly start / stop / restart bulbs and check temps and UV out put.

So far so good.

Here are some things I can tell you:
1.
One particular design / style / brand of up converter performed much better than the rest.
This is the one that will come with the kit.
This piece is key to the kit because it runs the 220v bulb here in US.

2.
Arcadia has been working to create a 110v UV bulb but...

This has been going on for practically a year that I am aware of!.
And has involved many prototypes and many different batches of 110v bulbs.

NONE performed as well as the 220v.

So what the HECK!!
why not just go with what works!
The 220v bulb?? :)
Because of the nature of the self ballasted lamp, the 220v current seems the preferrable choice to creating a stable, long lasting bulb.

That is in part why there is so much difficulty w/ MV bulbs over here.

3.
I have been working on the cost.
That is another huge factor!
Arcadia has worked with me to help to MAKE THIS POSIBLE.
The 220v Merc Vapor kit and the bulbs WILL BE VERY AFFORDABLE.
The price point for the base 160w kit will be about 138.00 - 149.00.
For the 160w 220v Mercury Vapor bulb, NICE Large Arcadia EURO Dome lamp w/ porcelain socket, on/ off switch , BULB Guard (usually 8.00 +/- extra.) AND the HEAVY Duty / Continuous Duty 110v to 220v Up converter.

S&H will be extra and run about 20.00.
The reason...?
Those HEAVY duty converters are HEAVY. The are only about 4" x 5" x 6" inches, but weigh 6 pounds.

4.
The Price of the Mercury Vapor Bulbs will be LESS than you would think!
They will be between 39.99 to 49.99

MORE TO COME...........
:D:D:D:D
