Anyone know what bug this is?

I think someone onetime told me it was an assassin bug but I have no clue. It's currently squished on my wall 20160913_023203.jpg

Good to know. I was told they're no good, I just wasn't sure of the name. Thank you. Now I'm wondering how it got in my apartment. I've seen some twice that size before but never inside. Yikes

Looks like a western conifer seed bug, Leptoglossus occidentalis. Looking at the wing shapes and the lobes on the lower part of back leg.

So I killed a harmless bug? Dang. The pictures of it online look exactly like what was on my wall. Thanks Twitchet.

Murderer! All them kid bugs will have to live without a father!!! And Timmy oooh little Timmy just hatched and will never get to know his father! :(

I'm no western conifer seed beetle specialist but that's what it looked like to me.
I'm an artist and I was commissioned to paint a series of beetles, until I did this I didn't fully appreciate the stunning beauty and design of beetles, whether a 4" goliathus or a 4 mm long weevil, have a look under a microscope and you'll be blown away by its beauty even if it's our humble feeder locust or roach.(y)
