Anybody know a good Jackson diet?

I feed my new Jackson' Chameleon a diet consisting mostly of large crickets, occasionally mealworms/waxworms. I feed him every other day, and dust his meals twice weekly. Is this a good diet or does anybody know a better diet for Jackson's Chameleons?

What are you dusting with? Personally I like crickets the best as far as commercial feeders go. Some other commercial feeders would be roaches and flies. You can get blue bottle flies. Every chameleon goes insane for them!!! I feed them the dry honey/bee pollen mix along with fruit juices. I also dust them with spirulina to improve the nutrition. You can get them at a few places.

Besides that you can go and catch wild caught bugs. Make sure you arent collecting poisonous bugs, know what you are feeding off and collecting in a pesticide free area. Bugs I feed off are various species of spiders (wolf, crab, orb weavers, daddy long leg etc.), hoppers but not lubbers, moths, mantis etc.

I don't think I'll trust wild bugs again, my Chinese Water Dragon died two years back by eating a pesticide covered roach that crawled into his cage (neighbors had a roach problem).

Im sorry to hear about your water dragon:( If you can go to a national park or somewhere like that they shouldnt be using any pesticides. The blue bottle flies are really good and clean that you can get commercially.

As for the dusting. Does he get any outside time? 2 times a week with the D3 may be too much. Id suggest getting a calcium without the D3. With species like the jacksons I try to have a well rounded high nutrition gut load instead of using a bunch of supplements. 1 or 2 times a week with plain calcium shouldnt be too much overkill though.
