Any tips on breeding Deremensis?

For those who did not see the first thread:

They are now separate and seem to be settling in well.

I want to reintroduce them this weekend for breeding.

Anybody have any suggestions? Intro Male into Female cage or vica versa?

Anybody know her "come hither" and "I'm gravid, stay away from me" colors since it is possible she is already gravid?

What behavior should I watch for?

Should I mist extra to stimulate breeding as I do breeding snakes?

I'm am an experienced snakes breeder but this is my first attempt at Chams so any help is appreciated!

Thanks

If they're WC, there is a fair chance the female is already gravid. Even is she isn't gravid, I would not force breeding on her at this critical point in her acclimation period. Keep her separate for a couple months, make sure she's feeding, getting corrects supplementation, etc, before you breed her. Breeding can be tough on new WC's.

When I had a female deremensis a couple years back, she would display dark spotting when she was not happy. From what I've read, too, non-receptive females will display black spots. I have never seen a receptive female deremensis, though I'd imagine they'd be a light green and the red around their mouth (lip-stick :p) would be pronounced.

Again, I would really wait before you introduce them. Make sure they have a clean bill of health and that they're eating well.

Adam is spot on. I'd actually check both chams fecals at least twice since theyre wc's before breeding. If you dont want to give them any harsh dewormers. Then buy a bottle of reptaid and at least do one 10 day cycle and then recheck fecals again to be sure they are clean. If you breed her now she may crash if she has a heavy parasitic load. Mpo....

They may not breed until fall...males lips are usually quite red when they are ready to breed...

This is how I've done it....
Show the female to the male by holding her outside the male's cage. If she is calm, doesn't hiss or gape or sway back and forth or turn very dark then she is likely receptive. If he shows that he is not in an aggressive "mode" either, then the female may be placed inside the male's cage....but continue to watch them for a while to make sure that things are going well. When the female starts to reject the male, remove her from the cage.

Neat video.

I tried to show her to the Male today but I can't really tell the difference between her gaping at him and gaping at me for holding her, so I'm still not sure if she is already gravid. Didn't feel any eggs but she puffed up pretty good when I held her and I did not want to squeeze.

Both have fairly red lips and are green but she darkened when I held her.

She is still eating, and I would expect her to stop if she was close to laying. Is this correct?

I may try again tomorrow.

There is just nothing else like a video from Fabian - I miss him.

Ok, she gapes and turns dark when I put her next to him.

I assume this means she is either not receptive or already gravid?

Can't really tell when I hold her....

Try holding her on a (long) stick so she is further away from you so you will be sure she's reacting to him, not you.

Being that they normally only produce eggs once a year after mating in the fall in the wild, she may be following that?
