Dont really know how to explain this but maybe someone will understand!
I have a ambilobe panther male and the past day he has had really prominant stripes on his eye turrets and face. They had dissapeared while i was at work but when i came home and he saw me he went stripey again. Hes really happy and wants to come out all the time.
So my question is has anyone ever noticed this in their chameleons, i want to know if the stripes realate to a certain emotion or scenario. Just curious to be honest. Thanks in adavance :) image.jpg

He's just changing colors to match his mood at the moment.
That can change pretty quickly when his mood changes again.

My panthers color is drabe green sometimes when they are inside their cage, but when I let them out, they color up.

Yeah i know, but i was wondering if any one had any idea what mood it could be, like if it always happened during a certain scenario then you could work out pretty quickly how hes feeling. But as this was the first time hes done it i didnt know what mood he was in

Oh, I understand what your asking, but no, I havent been able to really know what their mood was by a particular, unique color pattern. It just varies so much, and their colors change as they age as well, which makes it more difficult to pin down any color pattern always accociated with a particular mood.

Okay :) thanks i knew it was a long shot and was just curious he seems happy so thats what matters to me it could be to do with ageing as he is coming up to a year old now :)

Sometimes my guys turret stripes really pop and other times I forget they are there. Funny you ask this, I just noticed some real nice ones on a youngster I was looking at the other night. I will have to have another look at him when I feed him today, and see. I know some of my four month olds, really flare colors when I feed or mist. They really love it. Worth checking into. If I forget to post, or can't find this one again to post, pm me and remind me.

I don't know if this helps, but EVERYTIME I have seem Remy's turrets striped like that it was during 1 of 2 events. The first is when he sees one of my females. When ever he does, his turrets go white and black stripes and his entire head changes to have a lot of color and black dots and stripes.

The other is when he is hunting. It does not happen everytime, but it seems like whenever he is hunting a bug that he really wants he gets this coloring.

I think they get striped when they are really excited.

Brilliant guys thanks! Ive only had Ckico home a month so am still learning his little quirks but from what i can tell so far when he sees me his stripes appear and then he runs down to the door and im a sucker for them eyes so let him out ahaa. When hes hunting he will go really bright! But not noticed any stripes and hes never seen a female so maybe hes finally gone back to loving me again. I work where i bought him from and fell in love with him so took him home but at work he was soo friendly and would sit up on the till with me eating locusts aha but he took a while to settle in so maybe hes just finally settled and is happy again :D
