So Cletus might have another Upper respiatory infection? He has the same bubbles around his mouth..... Last time he got this right as he was in the middle of his shedding stage. Now he has it again .....and again during the middle / end of his shed. I am so confused I clean his cage 2 times a day I have a fan in my room along with an air purifier. I just took him out to clean up sum of the bubbles cuz there was more than the time before. And I noticed he had skin around his " lips " / mouth. Can that just be him lubricating to get the extra skin off or would you think he has another URI ?!?!?!?! I am sooo confused. He is not open mouth breathing and he seems to be doing fine but if I need to ill take him in right now I have a few hours to spare...... Any help would be helpful :(

If he has a URI, you need to contact your vet for medication.

They dont go away on their own, and they dont lubricate to remove shed.
ALso, shedding would have nothing to do with him getting a URI,

I just got back from my vet. I used to be a vet tech there 2 years ago. SO i get free check ups and what not but the meds are the only thing I have to pay for. I didnt think they would form bubbles to remove shed around thier mouth haha i was dumb for asking that but the doc checked him out and there was no bubbles when i brought him there but now hes on .2 Baytril for 10 days just to 100% sure she told me when they shed they can get sick at any given moment just because its stressful on them. But thanks for the help !

If that were the case, chams would be geting sick right and left when they shed.

Shed doesnt put much stress on them, more of they are itchy and roam more or eat less.

Though I am glad that you got some meds to help treat any lingering infection.

Um...I don't agree with this at all. Shedding is a natural part of every cham's life. If they were that delicate they wouldn't survive it. Don't forget, chams in the wild are under stress too...just different types of stress...like survival.

Bubbles alone isn't necessarily a sign of a URI. Some chams salivate a lot when they are thirsty and drinking quickly. Some salivate a lot when they eat certain types of insects. If the skin on their lips is loose and irritating I could see how it might trigger more salivation.

Other signs of an active URI or LRI include sitting dark and lethargic under the basking spot much of the day, no appetite or drinking, resting with their head tipped straight up, mouth open (not to relieve overheating...just gaping regardless of temp), inflating their gular over and over, heavy gulping and throat contracting over and over, wheezing with blocked nostrils. Yes, saliva build up in the mouth too, but this by itself isn't everything to look for.
