Another supplementation question

I was wondering about supplementation because I have seen so many opinions and schedules and products that I am bewildered!

I will be getting my first chameleon, a two month old male panther, in December. He will live inside with short trips outside, weather permitting. I hope he eats small dubias because I have a colony going. I'll start gutloading them according to low oxalics lists once he is almost here.

(I am confident that I have learnt, and will continue learning, enough to maintain a happy, healthy panther as a first chameleon. I have been researching for six months, set up a proper enclosure, found a vet, saved a vet fund, etc. I have a fairly wide range of animal caretaking experience. This is not an impulse decision.)

One breeder said that they don't supplement their babies at all. How soon do I start?

Repashy Calcium Plus LoD is very appealing as an all-in-one, but I've seen that many of you are concerned that it would still be too much for even 4 times/week. Otherwise it is plain calcium every day, multivitamin a couple times a month, and calcium with D3 a couple times a month.

Thoughts?

Thanks.

I use Miner All products for calcium and calcium with D3. Herptavite for a multivitamin.
I dust with calcium just about daily. Calcium with D3 every other Sunday. Multivitamin is on the opposite sunday of D3.

Miner All hasn't let me down in the 12 years or so I've been using it.

I don't know about Repashy as I don't use it, but I do know it's very important to supplement babies as they are in the growing phase and use the supplements the most at that age. Panthers in my experience are much more likely to eat dubias than veileds. Remember only use a little powder, don't over supplement.

I use the repashy all in one calcium plus (normal version) on all my chameleons. Veileds and panthers.

I used repashy on my babies too.

I use I on every feeding.

The regular Calcium Plus every day is not too much for the babies?

iv'e never had an issue with it and my babies.

:)

I very very lightly dusted the bugs I fed to my babies.

I also gutloaded really well, so I didn't always dust the bugs.

maybe 4-5 feedings per week.

once my babies hit 3 months old, I dusted daily.

Do I need to use minerals in addition to the Low D? I guess I don't actually know how "all-in-one" it is.
Thanks.

LoD would be okay to use 12-15 times a month. Maybe try mixing the loD with the minerall (no D3) at 50/50 or 40/60 and use it every day. Only make enough for a month or two's worth of supplementing at a time. I think I might actually start doing that so I don't have to worry about using more than one.

So could I supplement with Repashy LoD 4-7 days a week and Miner-All twice a month? Would that be sufficient?

Thanks

3-4 would be okay and then use a plain calcium without d3 (like minerall outdoor formula) the rest of the time. (Or like I said, you can try mixing it 50/50 and just use the one mixed product every day.)

the low d has minerals in it.

It might be safe to use almost daily and you may not need anything else. It somewhat depends on what type of feeder prey you offer and how you gutload.

Pssh advice to use every other day or mix 50-50 with a vitamin free supplement is also reasonable.

Thank you all.

Is there any way to tell if he has an over/underdose of something?

LowD is a new product. If you are confused or unsure at all it might be better to use the tried and tested method of plain calcium daily, calcium with d3 twice a month and a multivitamin twice a month. This works for most.:)
