Whats up guys.. Im new to the forum and I wanted to share a little info on my female juvenile cham Mitch.. shes around 4-5 months old and she looks very healthy and she is very active but my concern is that she is def under weight.. she is maybe eating 2 crickets a day or every other day. Now as nature calls an animal will eat when its hungry i know but im getting kind of worried as I have read that these creatures need to eat between 5-15 crickets a day. As far as her cage goes its an all sceened in enclosure about 2x2x2... im a little worried that her enclosure is a little small and maybe thats why she's is not eating but the "reptile guy" at the pet store said it was plenty big for at least another couple months..
All in all she looks very healthy, she is a bright green with hints of white and yellow just like most female veileds. I mist the cage with luke warm reverse osmosis water 3 times a day and have a drip system going so she is definitly hydrated.. the temp in the cooler side of the cage is around 77 degrees so her basking spot is somewhere around 90 degrees. All the lighting is correct including uvb. Everything in her cage is fake foilage and vines except a golden pothos i put in there to provide some extra humidity and it looks like she has been munching on that a little bit. and there is barley any traffic since i keep her in my room. Now she is on a desk that is next to a window but keep in mind I dont have the sun glaring on her 12 hours a day the sunlight is filtered through the window and 2 screens so i doubt she will get too hot.
I'm currently feeding here I would say mid size to larger size dusted crickets.. now the jackass' at the pet store said thats what she should be eating since she is a juvenile but im so fed up with that store i dont even wanna go back.. they raped me on the prices which was mostly my fault do to lack of research but anyways... Should I try smaller crickets or what? she doesnt like mealworms and I have only seen her eat one cricket my self in the 2 weeks shes been with me.
My main concern is that her enclosure is to small and that she may not be getting enough humidity since i only have one real plant in there. I also got the disk fogger that you drop in a bowl of water but that thing makes the bottom of the cage completely soaked since it sprays water out the top.
Sorry for such a long post but I tried to give all the info I could.. any ideas or tips? The last thing i wanna do is see this little beautiful girl pass due to lack of nutrition so please help!
