Angle of spray-

Has anyone noticed or studied how different angles of spray will provoke the Chams to drink?

I would assume the more you can mimic a normal rain fall, the Chams will be more likely to feel at home and drink.

I have been playing around with the thought and noticed that both of my chams tend to enjoy being sprayed from about 45 to 90 degrees rather than straight on from the side.

Has anyone else noticed a difference?

I think the drinking respons is strongest when the water falls on them from above. Like you said - when it's most like rain

I think different chameleons respond differently. My male panther doesn't seem too picky about it, he graciously drinks pretty much no matter how I spray him. However, my female generally becomes annoyed when sprayed directly, and prefers drops to fall on top of her. Sometimes I'll spray the top of the cage to allow larger drops to accumulate and fall, she seems to like this best.

My cham refuses to drink from the dripper (at least when I am looking :)). I really do not see him drinking at all, though I know that he is. Also, it is kind of funny: when the mister starts up, and after he has a little shower, he goes up to the nozzle and kind of sticks his one side up to it and lets it go all over him....

Anyway, I guess different chams have different preferences.

does anyone have a picture of their misting system in operation...I just was curious how the water is ejected out of the jets.?

Something else that seems to have been stimulating my chams to drink more is having them eat a couple of crickets or something just before I mist down their cage.

It really seems like so long as you can get a drop of water in their mouth, they will start to drink.

Yup and Warm water helps.

Anyone with their observations?

my male veiled waits till the mist nozzle shuts off and runs over and licks the water off the top of the screen. at first i didnt mean to have part of the spray pattern hit the top screen, but now that i see him drinking that way i kept it there. its funny, sometime he will hang almost upside down and drink the little droplets. (im guessing the mv bulb heats the patch of water droplets at the top of the screen which he likes.)
